How
to Clean a Cabin
by Tammi Hartung
Living in the resort community of Cass Lake offers the seasonal employment
of cleaning cabins. Every Saturday, from May through August, hundreds
of visitors leave the resort and head for home. In just a few hours
those cabins need to be made ready for the hundreds of new visitors
wending their way north. This employment opportunity is a terrific
way for college students to earn cash for the upcoming school year.
What to expect
Most resort owners will supply everything you will need. The lists to
the right are a sample of what is provided at Break On The Lake. Work
starts around 7:00 a.m. and needs to be finished by 3:00
p.m., the standard check-in time for most resorts, so be prepared to
work
quickly. Expect to be working in two-person teams. Typically a team
will clean 4-6 cabins in a day. Also a common practice among resorts
is to pay the cleaning crews in cash at the end of the day.
Preparation
You will want to wear comfortable exercise clothing
Remember to bring water and a snack. There will be time for a break.

Drive to your first empty cabin
Step Two

at the end of the day. The supply tote is restocked and the vacuum bag
is
inspected and replaced if necessary.
