Purpose

The purpose of this site is to entertain, to give a laugh both at the pictures and at some of the text. There is no deeper meaning here, other than a barebones attempt at makins someone smile at how mundane my life really is.

Design Decisions

The major design decision that I made was the outlay of the pages in relation to the pictures. In each of the nodes, breakfast, lunch and supper, the pictures are laid out differently. They travel around the area of text, and the idea behind this was that as the day progressed, the pictures would move as well.

I also made the backgrounds different coloured under each node. Breakfast was grey, befitting a time of day when my mind isn’t exactly awake, lunch was yellow, showing me in alert mode, and supper was black background because it was night.

Another thing that came up was how and where to put the links to other pages. Seeing other hypertext essays out there with internal links, I gave some thought to doing it that way. The decision was made to put the links at the end of the text each time, because that is how I prefer to go through things on the web. It allows me to read everything without a prompt away from the page right away.
This method also proved out to be correct in the testing stage in class. It seemed to be preferred to put the links at the end. I like it that way, and they liked it that way, so that’s the way it is.

Other than that, ‘s just a basic page with 3 pictures and some writing.

Composition Decisions

I kept these barebones, with the pictures as back up. By doing this, I made sure that there was information there about my day, but I believe that since it is so sparse, it communicates how blank a regular day really is.

There are times when I could have expanded the text, but to do that I would have to also add more pictures, and as it stands the pictures and text work very very well together. The sparseness of the text with the both the smallness and number of the pictures works great.

How the essay should be read

With your eyeballs, a computer, and a cup of coffee.

How Else the Essay Might Be Read

um...Well, with a computer that speaks out the words it sees, I suppose.

Difficulties

There wasn’t really any difficulties, OTHER THAN GETTING THE PICTURES TOGETHER. I was held back by my own laziness.

*Sigh*
