Linking Smart

A link has two fundamental elements: the linktext and the link destination. Linktactics focuses on both, but more so on creating good linktext. Crafting good linktext means understanding the associative nature of linking -- how it's similar to rapid-fire thought process. And how easily rapid-fire goes awry; you can end up in the Arctic Circle when you meant to land in the Bahamas somewhere.

Creating excellent linktext also means knowledge about what ticks readers off -- what makes them go away and never come back. Everybody can use an occasional lesson on etiquette, right?
