Summer Break > Road Trips |
|
Taking a weekend off to go on a road trip is always a good idea. It's nice to take a vacation from the dorm and go experience the world outside of your 11X12 cell. Your friends can gather ideas from their community, or from their own family traditions and plan a trip to their home town. Road trips give them a chance to tell you stories of what they did and where they went when they were little. Every year my friends and I go to the Staples' Kids Carnival like she did very year when she was little. We decided to go again even though we were all in our 20s. It was awesome, there they have all of the old classic kids games. Our favorite is of course the Cake Walk. The first year we went I won a cake, the only problem was when I brought it home I dropped it in the parking lot. Mooching off of relatives is a great way to plan a road trip without it costing a lot of extra money. Last Fall, my friend let us stay at her Uncle and Aunt's cabin on Lake Superior. We had a fire on the rocky shore and saw the sites of Grand Marais. This was a perfect get-a-way and Lake Superior is so beautiful. That was one of the best road trips despite the fact that I accidentally walked all over my friend's grandma's grave. Oops, live and learn I guess. Now we have made a road trips part of our college tradition. Each summer we pick a new place that we want to go to see the sites--hear stories--and start stories of our own.
