Lueken's Village Foods
218-444-2253
Mon-Sun 6am-11pm
With a North and South, they have anything you need for grocery and bakery. Definitely get a hold of their cloth bag, $1 each, and see that they have organic galore.
Market Place Foods
218-444-1400
Mon-Sun 6am-11pm
The Deli (11am-7pm) is pretty good, but go early, when the food is fresh. They have good chicken dinners and you can choose from multiple casseroles and other hot sides.
They have a "gas stamp" system where every $5 you spend in the store (whether on gas, meat, deli food, or groceries), you get one stamp. Once the card is filled, it counts as $1 off your next gasoline purchase. Tuesdays and Saturdays are "double stamp days." Their prices are a bit higher than Walmart, but the gas prices are the same. They also have a "we care" system where you can get your receipt stamped and turn it in to a local place that takes donations, such as the Beltrami County Human Society; they report back to the store and get a percentage of the receipt total donated.

Raphael's

Mon-Fri 10:30am-2pm
Sat 6am-2pm
They serve many different sandwiches and salads. The restaurant is connected to a bakery which serves Wild Rice Bread, also a large selection of freshly baked pastries and other sweets. A great place to get doughnuts or cupcakes. Plus, no preservatives!
Chinese
New China
218-751-5340
Mon-Sat 11am-9pm
Not only does the food taste great, but if you get your food between 11am-3pm, it's a lunch special, which means it's only $5! The small restaurant has 7 tables, so don't be nervous to take it out during the summer, as it can get crowded, but the quaint place makes up for it greatly in the food. Just remember to ask for some fortune cookies, and why not give a try at the chop sticks?
Coffee/Tea/Deli
Beyond Juice (Menu)
218-751-0455
Serves 7am-6pm, closed Sat.
This juice bar may be expensive, but is definitely worth the experience. With their "Meal in a Cup," you also get a piece of bread, home made like Mama used to make! Definitely try their Total Energy with an Immune Builder, and get your hands on one of their giant brownies--and if you have room, go for their Turkey Cranberry (have Thanksgiving all year round!).

A perfect local favorite, where many writers and musicians gather for readings. The food, though slightly expensive, is plentiful and delicious, with much variety in drink. It's comfortable for talk or study, with leather seats, boards games and a selection of books.

Paul Bunyan Sub Shop (Menu)
Mon-Fri 10am-8pm
Sat 10:30am-6pm
Sun 11am-4pm
Is Bemidji's first sandwich shop, with six tables and a bit more expensive than Subway. A great place to hang out. They serve specialty subs and homemade soups (really good).
Tea & Gift Shoppe (Menu)
Mon-Fri 10am-5pm
Sat 10am-2pm
From free trade to loose tea, this shop has one table with four chairs that allow a more intimate chat. They also have cookbooks, tea cups and pots and more. It gets busy with only three customers there, so waiting might be long, but the wait is worth it when you get the same special attention as everyone else.

Mon-Fri 7am-5pm
Sat 9am-3pm
1st of every Friday has dinner 5pm-9pm
For a calm, laid back atmosphere with friendly staff, check out the Wild Hare. Though the mugs may be hard to handle, the coffee and food, variety for both, is surprisingly great.

Mon-Sat 9:30am-8pm

A great place to get a gift or sweet snack for yourself. Choose from homemade fudge, hand-dipped chocolates, and unique candies. We recommend their caramel apples. Yum!
Family
Maid Rite Cafe
218-444-7224
Mon-Sun 7:30am-5pm
Close to campus, with great prices for a burger and fries - however, these burgers are more like sloppy joes, the ground beef flavored with spices rather than sauce. Great for a sit and getting to know your servers.

Fine Dining
Tutto Bene (Menu)
218-751-1100
Mon-Sat 5pm-9pm
Tues 11am-9pm
An upscale Italian restaurant, with homemade pastas, breads, soups and other specialties, all tasty. Try the manicotti if you want something creamy and filling, or try the stuffed pita with herb vinaigrette if you want something light and flavorful. Be sure to save room for a canolli or tiramisu! The atmosphere is quite formal, so don't go in street clothes. The wait staff are much friendlier to their well-dressed patrons.
Sparkling Waters
Mon-Sun 11am-10pm (or later)
218-444-3214
With fabulous coffee, and an impressive wine selection, Sparkling Waters is Bemidji's finest dining establishment. The interior is exquisite, and the view of the lake is breath taking year round. Go here to enjoy fantastic desserts.Be careful, This place is pricey, and portions are small. Rumor has it that microwaves often replace the stove - this is yet to be proven, though.
Pizza
Dave's Pizza
Sun-Thurs 5pm-10pm
Fri-Sat 5pm-11pm
218-751-3225
Great family restaurant, with not just pizzas, but actual Italian food! There's not much seating room inside, so it can feel a bit crowded and not much chance for privacy, but they have seating outside on the deck for the warmer weather. Prices are decent, but they're usually busy, so be prepared for a long wait for service.
