American politics has, for the most part, been a system controlled by the two major parties: the Democrats and Republicans. However, most Americans do not fit neatly into either of these two categories. While some may share values with one party or another, most have ideals for our government that are considered outside of those two parties. Options exist for citizens who find themselves standing outside the two major political parties. There are parties whose platforms are extremely left, extremely right, and everywhere in between. These parties, however, have never been fully embraced by a majority of American voters, causing them to remain on the fringe of the political process and out of major political debate and discussion. This site is intended to serve as an introduction to America's minority political parties for those not happy with the inner circle that is the reality of American politics. Though some of the parties seem to advocate values that may not be held close to the hearts of certain citizens, it is a reality that these political parties exist and are working to further their own political agendas. It is, however, necessary to introduce the average person to these parties, if not for the sake of spurring an interest in a personal political adventure, but for becoming more familiar with the complex world of political science to become a better citizen.
