| "You don't even need a paper to come in. Sometimes if the professor gives an assignment we can help clarify what the assignment means. We help with all aspects of writing - that means any stage of the process. Don't feel you can't come in if you're not done with your paper. Come in even if you're just brainstorming, or doing a first draft." - Ariana at writing center |
The Hole in the Wall is an office in third floor Haag Sauer Hall open to all writing and English students. It contains a computer, senior projects by former writing students of BSU, and various books/other resources on the writing process. This room, however, is locked but an attendant from the third floor main reception center in Haag Sauer Hall can open it upon request.
Verb-L is an email listserve that sends out english related news events and careep oportunities. Do not reply to Verb - L though, because your e-mails will go to everyone on the list (and not just to the person who sent them).
Getting around Campus - Don’t be afraid to use a map, or ask directions. It may be easy to get lost in the upper levels of the academic buildings or down in the tunnels the first time you dare to use them (perhaps you are desperate and it is raining or something). However, these time consuming setbacks need not be met as a nuisance or an aggravation but rather as an adventure. Just remember that you can ask directions!

After College - After college is only the beginning and you may have more options than you think. An excellent career info resource is the Career Services office in Sanford hall. If you have an idea of what you want to do, look into it. If you have not settled on a desired career yet, look into everything from teaching, to journalism, to the publishing of creative works. It is even possible to begin making money during college through the publishing of freelance magazine articles, short stories or novels written during free time, or even writing for the student newspaper.

A complete booklet of all available scholartships (other than the departmental ones) can also be picked up at the Admissions office in deputy. All scholarships in that booklet are applied for with a single application which is also available in the admissions office.
