second call for presentations next week Don't delay! Have a look at the assignment for next week, and sign up for a day and time on the wiki. Sunday, November 28
Coming up on final presentations Welcome back. Hope your break was enjoyable. Now it's down to the final push! Traditionally, everyone would do a second studio tour this week, but we're a little close on time this semester. So, as a way of wrapping up your projects, prepare for the project presentation and write up. We'll be meeting face to face again for presentations next week - the week of Dec 6th. You'll want to add your name to the schedule on the wiki. Have a close look at the project presentation and write up assignment for details and advice on how to proceed. If you have any questions, talk to me. I'll see some of you in Web Design, and others at the Union. Feel free to ask questions in passing. Oh, I've posted some pics of the Eveleth hockey stick. I'm speechless. Words can't express my amazement. Thursday, November 25
I hope this day of Thanksgiving is fulfilling the emptiness and heartfelt appreciation you have for your loved ones. Wednesday, November 24

Well, in about an hour I'll be headed home to Shoreview for the weekend. Ah..the Cities...how exciting. It will be nice to see family. Hopefully I'll have time to blog, although we've only got dial up so It'll be slooow :) Enjoy the holiday everyone! BTW...Hatch, are you callin me a liar? LOL! Monday, November 22
What an assignment From my perspective, the [assignment that shall not be named] went really well. The page came out looking nothing like I had expected, and it's a challenge to refactor - mainly because there's some real substance to work with. Empty themewriting and triva is easy to refactor; ideas are more difficult. I'm having to deal with ideas I usually don't have to, which is interesting. And the numbers are in: Berne gets the bonus points for starting us off. Sue gets the bonus points for being the last to post a revision at 11:37. But Angel gets some bonus points for making some subtle but significant changes and additions at (wait for it...) 3:13 am. (View the changes. Have a good week, keep your projects moving forward when you can, and return on Monday after T'giving ready to make The Final Push. h3ck y34h! i\'m 7h3 14s7 c0n7ribu70r! i 4m 1337! r0x0r! Unlike our friend Berne, I'm admitting my motive. :-P Sunday, November 21
What an assignment, if I see the word "Audience" one more time im gonna puke. There was a lot of indepth posts, maybe a little too much. It seemed like the post that I wrote on the bottom of the page was not a well liked one, but I guess its all for discussion. I will be gone Tuesday night to the big town of Staples, 90 miles south of here on highway 64. I will hopefully get my computer fixed so I can post a lot more than this past week. Enjoy the turkey everyone and have fun with the giant hockey stick, Morgan. Last call for Composing Our Audience I've been looking over the contributions - lots of 'em and pretty good ones: moving the topic forward even as they branch off into other topics. Remember, there are bonus points for being the last contributer to the topic before midnight tonight. It might be time to refactor, perhaps separating the thoughts on blogging audience from those on wiki audience. The topic started with a focus on the the specifics of our audience - specifically, the BlogsAndWikis wiki audience. For this seed, we're all going to focus our collective work on a single topic: OurAudience. Everyone contribute to the development of this page, discussing and presenting ideas of audience when it applies to a wiki - specifically how we might think of *our* audience. Along the way, a ideas developed concerning the relationship between blog writers and their audiences. (I kind of expected this, but also know that going off-track while drafting can yield paydirt when the writer returns to the topic.) A subheading was introduced for the blog audience, and more ideas developed under that subhead. That material might be moved to a new page (some has been, I noticed), or used in comparison with the OurAudience. Anyone who's willing to take a stab at getting this focused is welcome to - keeping in mind that nothing written on the page needs to be lost. It can be moved to its own page, names and all. I'll check in again Monday morning for a final look. Good stuff. Saturday, November 20
Dude, You are the biggest dork ever. The world's biggest hockey stick? I suppose that can't be any worse than a neutered Ox and his "buddy" the lumberjack. Friday, November 19
status report: OurAudience People are going at OurAudience hammer and tongs. There's a lot there to work with, and the exchange is more focused and tighter than our first try a few weeks ago. We're coming down to the Sunday deadline, I'm keeping track of who's doing what when (click the View other revisions at the bottom of the page), and I'll spend some time refactoring on Saturday. Make a final push - then take a week off for T'giving. If you're going anywhere, let us know here. On Thursday, I'm off to Eveleth for dinner (and a late late night) with old friends from St Cloud and elsewhere. It's a pilgrimage to the big hockey stick. Really stepping out. I will be gone for the weekend attending to family matters and most likely will not have access to a computer. I hope the wiki continues to progress well. -Aaron Wednesday, November 17
I kinda feel like this in my head. It's a good thing I've got the Yatta guys to keep me company during these hot flashes. ...and I forgot about this track dealing with the topic of copyrighting, mostly with respect to the RIAA and their battle against decent, song-loving people. Even the blogsphere is a small world. Read about my experience here. Pretty cool, huh? Note: (Added this afternoon after reading Morgan's comment) Yes, my high school was good sized, total of about 2000 students, with a grad class of around 460. Although that's pretty standard for the Cities. Sunday, November 14
Wiki writing assignment for week of Nov 14 I still have a couple more mid-term reflections to comment on, but here is the assignment for this week: WritingTheWiki - Seed the Second: Composing Our Audience. Have a look at this right away because points depend on getting started right away. Next week - the week of Thanksgiving Break - there will be no assignment. Just turkey. See you on the wiki. Dr. M stopped by my office today and noticed I was watching Red vs. Blue. In case some of you have a sense of humor, here is the website. An inkling about the homage it's paying (or playing off of) is not required, but it helps. I'd check out their rolling archives if I were you, just to get a footing on what's happening in the series. The PSA (public service announcements) are stand alone episodes, though. I'm going to have to disagree with you there. The best northern lights (and you must have missed them) in the last 20 years were in the late summer of 98, when they formed a perfectly brilliant halo for no more than 2 hours. I thought it was the end of the world... and I swear I wasn't high. mid-term reflections are in and the northern lights last night were a justifiable excuse for being late with your. Some of the best I've seen in 20 years. I came across an interesting online story about a court case being held on the question of "Online Freedom of Speech". Sunday, November 7
Holy crap, I didn't think it was this late. I did however, go to the park and see the Northern Lights, neat stuff. That is why im late, is it a good enough excuse? Anywho, here is my Midterm Reflection -JP Check out my Midterm Reflection here. Thinking of dinner makes me hungry :) Also, thanks to the esteemed Mr. Froyd for pointing me in the right direction to fix my comment problem. Either a really drunk British woman read my blog, or I got spammed. Have a good evening, all! Reminder: Midterm Reflection is due tonight, Sunday, 7 Nov, midnight. Bill P was first in with his. The dinner-level reflections are going to show some pretty close reading of your own work so far, and some insight on what you've done. But given the studio tours, you have a lot of stuff to work with. Go for dinner! Post a notice with a link to the page when you've finished. Keep your projects moving. And have a good Armistice Day off. No assignment this week. Saturday, November 6
