I'm done with my jobs, including the StudioTours. Now it's time to go get weird. I probably won't make it tomorrow, but stranger things have happened. Ok, after a very long day of decorating, giving out candy and taking everything down from our hall, I have completed the assignment studiotour, im probably dead last but that's ok. We won the best kid friendly hall decorating contest so that's all that matters. I'm going to take a nice long hot shower and fall fast asleep. See you in class tomorrow! JP I think I can safely call it a wrap on this round of studio tours (of Bill, Sue, and JP). If I were to elaborate much further I might simply start rambling, which would be bad. If my reviewees have questions, let me know! Okay. So I revised my studio tours. I think this format will make it easier for people to figure out what I'm trying to say, and it makes use of the wiki's potential. Thanks for the hint, Renee. I can't for the life of me figure out what time it REALLY is, because the blogger clock says 1:26, my computer clock says 12:26 and my alarm clock says 11:26, but it's irrelevant anyway because it's not Sunday night yet, so I'm 24 hours ahead of the due date. But I'm still confused, darn daylight savings. My point? I'm done with the studio visits. BOO-ya! Happy Halloween all. Saturday, October 30
Can you tell me what, exactly, I will be quoted as saying, if I was even quoted at all? I'd like to make sure I don't get ambushed by my students for saying something crazy in the school paper. For those of you who posted to my blog concerning the topic of spirituality...odds are you will be quoted in my article. So, if for any reason you do not want to be quoted, let me know before Monday. Trick or Treat Reminder on a Rainy Saturday Studio tours are due Sunday, midnight (and you do get an extra hour to work on it this weekend.) Post a note and a link to your tours here when you're finished so that the bloggers you visited can have a look. And we meet again face to face on Monday, All Hallows, 1 Nov, 10:00 in the usual place. We'll likely meet only Monday and Wednesday to touch base. Hey guys, with our studio tours going on and all, I just thought I should let those of you taking a tour of my blog know...most of the information and data I've collected is on my wiki page. I'm assuming you've figured this out by now...but in case you're confused by why my blog doesn't have info. on it about the project...it's because it's all on my wiki. Friday, October 29
For those of you doing a Studio Tour of Jeppe Bundgaard's blog, here's where you find his Project Proposal. It's not linked on the main page of his wiki, so I had trouble finding it at first. (Not my brightest moment.) But for the two others who are doing a tour of his project, there you go! Wednesday, October 27
Once again, blogger has managed to delete another 1000+ word post, and locked me out of my account. Oddly enough, I can access this one, but not my project blog. Maybe the FBI caught me. Tuesday, October 26

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who contributed to the conversation on Spirituality and Religion. Apparently, it's quite a hot topic, but everyone raised some really interesting points and I appreciate ALL of the comments. So thanks again. You guys are awesome. Sunday, October 24
For those who will be taking tours of my project, I do have an assignment blog and a wiki page. The wiki page is listed on my assignment blog under "links" JP Studio Tours! Good work on the wiki contributions. The work you've done not only helps us move the wiki along, but it gives me a better sense of what makes a good contribution and what gets in the way, and how to think about and practice refactoring. I've made some notes in the StyleGuide. You've been working on your projects for about a month now, and while I commented on each of them, it would be even more valuable to you to get some feedback from others. So for this week, take some time to take three studio tours. These are due midnight, Oct 31. Write them on the wiki: Create a page on your wiki home page for your comments (title it /StudioTour1). Then post a note and a link to your page to the Davbook. Others will be anticipating your comments, so you might want to get started on this early. We meet again face to face Monday, Nov 1, 10:00 - at least Monday and Wednesday of that week. Thursday, October 21
I'm doing a little segmented piece about guerrilla media. If you're interested, I would recommend reading my blog. You might actually learn something. Tuesday, October 19
Check out my latest post. Someone I reviewed for the Blogging Blogs assignment actually found my review and blogged about it. Pretty cool, I think. Okay, guys. I need your help on a little project here. If you've already checked out my blog, you know what this is about. I'm supposed to write an article for the Northern Student regarding the role spirituality and religion plays in the lives of college students. But in order for me to get a general overview, I need the opinions and ideas of actual college students. College students here at BSU. So, if you could check out my latest blog entry: Spirituality among college students, read through it quickly to see what I'm looking for and leave me a comment, that would be awesome. And if you know of any professors or classmates that would have something interesting to say, you can direct them to my blog as well to leave a comment. It would be awesome if you guys could help me out. Thanks! Monday, October 18
Thanks Thanks for your contributions to the first seed of WritingTheWiki (and kudos to Angel for making her last contribution [and a good one it is, making a solid observation about how we've been characterizing TheCommunity that could lead to a substantive refactoring of the page] at 11:48 pm Sunday night). You've made interesting additions and have given me a lot to look at and think about. I'll be getting back to you this week. For this week, carry on with your projects. There will be another assignment to start on Sunday, 24 Oct: The first studio tours. Until then... Sunday, October 17
And coming in late.... Okay, I think I'm done now. My list of contributions lives here. And now to hit the publish button... I've been type, type, typing since noon. I think I'm done now. If I see some responses I have issue with, you can be sure I'll refute them before midnight. ...that was a joke. I'm not supposed to "write things designed to make others mad." Sometimes I err on the side of cynicism. It's a crutch, I know. I have to take a long, computerless drive this evening, so I think I have to be done with the wiki for now. Here is a list of my contributions to the Wiki for the week. I might take one more look through RecentChanges before I leave the office this afternoon (Yes, the office on a Sunday, read this if you want to know why. Arrgh!...Anone know anything about LCD displays?), but I think I've got about 1000 words scattered throughout so far. Saturday, October 16
tick tock... The deadline for the first seed of the writing the wiki project approaches: midnight, Sunday, 17 Oct. Three have contributed - and have added some good stuff, worth developing further. And since the weather's lousy and there's nothing on TV, hey, might as well be writing, right? Sunday, October 10
Blogs and Wikis Assignment for the week of Oct 8th As promised, here's the first WritingTheWiki seed: SeedTheFirst: Enabling Creativity Due midnight, Sunday, 17 Oct, 2004. I'm looking forward to what you can collectively create. Thursday, October 7
become research subject! JP and Sue (and perhaps others in the class) are doing research on blogs, blogging, and blog readership for their projects. Help each other out: volunteer to be part of their research, or participate if you're asked. It's pretty much a question for Morgan, but is it alright if we can use our classmate’s blogs or wikis in our project? Since my project is really nothing but research it would be really nice if I could use some of their blogs, knowing that they will probably be able to answer my questions because they know me. Let me know!!! JP Wednesday, October 6
Yup, new name. The last one was too long. The new one is "Webarchism." Yes, I think that works. I'm done now. Goodbye. I have started a new Blog for my project. In the new blog I will be finding out what type of audience likes what type of blogs. I will hopefully see a pattern, and can then gather information by looking at the comments and profiles. From that information I can see how we can change our blogs to better fit our audience, either by changing the content or graphics. I will also be writing in my Wiki so look in both my blog and wiki. JP Just wanted to say that my blog, Blogging versus Journalism is now up and running. I'd appreciate any feedback my fellow classmates and bloggers could give me. Tuesday, October 5
I "officially" started my project on October 1. I'll be looking into how to find an audience for my blog and how to expand that audience. I'll be looking at other blogs on a daily basis and inviting them to visit mine, keeping track of who visits, how often, and any comments they leave for me. I'll try to keep some notes of what I find on my wiki page. Otherwise, my blog is staying the same...I'm just trying to find an audience for it. Monday, October 4
I started my blog project, Making Days, on Friday. My focus is doing acts of kindness -- whether random or carefully planned -- every day for eight weeks, then blogging about it. Feel free to look at my project proposal or the introductory entry on my blog for a more in-depth look at what I'm doing. Comments and general feedback are more than welcome. Sunday, October 3
Has anyone else been having problems with Blogger? It's taking me forever to publish things today, and half the time I log in it says "this page can not be displayed" Also, thanks to Froyd and Renee for the tracker tips. NOTE-I think its working now (10/4, 10:20 AM), just testing to see if it will publish New Weblog Projects for Fall We've just finished the face to face meetings in Blogs and Wikis and the projects have started. I've updated the blog roll with the new projects. Six of projects are up and running -including our first photo blog, a blog documenting acts of kindness designed to make someone's day, and a look at poetry on the web. (Monday will see the rest of the projects start.) Have a look around at what others are doing, leave comments, or comment here. I've started the WritingTheWikiProject that everyone in the class this semester will be contributing to. But everyone reading this is also invited to add their TwoCentsWorth. The WritingTheWikiassignment has some information on how to get started. Jump in anywhere. Click on people's trackers, look at their stats and see which lay out you like best. It depends on what stats you are interested in. Choose one that way. Or, use both. Berne, I've used both, one for my project blog(Sitemeter) and one for my regular blog(extreme). I've got to say that I favor the extreme tracker, as they have less ads in their reports page, and it is way more user friendly. The nice thing that sitemeter has going for it is the weekly emails breaking down the stats, but as I check the meter a couple times a week regardless, it isn't really that helpful. I myself would suggest extreme vs. sitemeter, just for the userfriendliness itself, though it also has a better stats breakdown too. Saturday, October 2
I'm interested in adding a tracker/counter to my blog. Biz appears to favor SiteMeter, but I notice many people using Extreme Tracker as well. Whats the diff? Here is my new blog with a mission statement built in so I don't have to trouble you all here with a big fat description of what it is I'm doing, even though I'd be glad to give you a description because it would make sense to give you a feeling of what it is I'm going to be doing, but then again that is what my mission statement is for and I figure; why be redundant, or learn how to use semicolons? Nothing makes sense anymore. I saw ambiguity lying on the ground, dead. So I picked up a stick and after a few whacks I came up with this topic: "Anarchy on the Web: its current state and future." Yeah, brilliant, I know. I also went to the store and bought a bottle of Double Cask scotch called "The Balvenie" for $47. I couldn't think of a better investment. Friday, October 1
I'm the personally reflective weblog. Keep reading Berne's World. I hope to be able to look back through the archives at the "chronicle" of my semester and see how I've grown or changed from this blogging experience. I'll be posting daily thoughts and feelings on things like classes, senate, current events, and what I see on other blogs-class and non-class. For more info, see my Project Proposal. Also keep commenting...I love feedback. I'm going to miss having class...see you around campus. New Projects for Fall (If that doesn't sound a little too much like a Herberger's advertisement) Writers are starting new weblog projects for the fall. Post an announcement here when you start to let the world know (and so google can index it). Include a link to the blog you're using so I can add it to the blog roll. So far, we have a photo blog, a blog on web poetry, a blog looking at journalism and blogging, one looking at anarchy on the web, one documenting a series of acts of kindness, and a personally reflective weblog. I'll let the authors say more about these when they post their announcements. |
