Template updated

Spent a few minutes this (rainy - really, in December) morning updating the blog template: embedding css code, updating links, moving last year's blogs to an archive position on the blog roll...

The blog now looks more like the wiki, following a "White Stripes" minimalist style: text and rules.

Now for coffee.

Hi Doctor Morgan,
Had to write here because I saw that you are preparing anew and I check this spot darn near every day. I like the collective-ness of it rather than my own blog because I don't know that anyone reads mine, let alone me. But here's a neat one... it evidently is for the man that started wikis, Ward Cunningham? Sound right?

Wakey Wakey

It's time to re-start this semi-dormant blog for the spring course. The course is full (ok: one position for a grad student), and the class list looks interesting. I've changed one text, opting for the Biz Stone book over Blog On!. The latter has more on using other blog platforms, while the Stone book focuses on Blogger. We'll have some discussions about Stone's precious style and what that suggests about a) Biz, and b) bloggers, and c) blogging.

We'll using Blood's book again - and probably will also use it for the Writers Conference workshop. It's a solid book, giving the new bloggers some direction and encouragement.

But while not much as been published in print this year, there's a lot online to look at for blogging. I'm adding links to appropriate pages on the wiki as I find them.

There's still very little on wikis. More wikis have surfaced, but there's little on genre or rhetoric of wiki. Not a problem: this is our entry point.

I'm making some tweaks on some of the writing projects for the course. But the assignments brought out some good stuff last year, so the changes will be more in the realm of guidance than structural.

So it starts.
