Dating

There was a time when there were unspoken rules of dating. Men were expected to be gentlemen and women were expected to be ladies. Roles have since changed and are not so clear cut. There are no more rules for dating and what works with some singles, doesn't work for others.

Issue #1 Who Initiates the Date?

In our society, this is wide open. We have come a long way from this being the man's responsibility. It is competely acceptable for a woman to ask a man on a date.

Issue #2 Who Plans the Date?

It is a common misconception that it is the responsibility of the one who initiated the date to plan the date. To avoid what could be a bad situation, it is best to share in this decision. Plan ahead. It is important to communicate your preferences and try to come to a mutual decision with your partner.

Issue #3 Who Pays?

If you are a woman, you may have a problem adjusting to the expectations of different men on this issue. One may be offended if you offer to pay your half. The next may be thrilled. Again, communication and tolerance are the key. Come to an agreement on who is to pay as the date is being planned.
