Three Dinners

My website is a compilation of recipes that I have created and modified. I decided to do this because I love to cook, and part of loving to cook is sharing, whether it is food or recipes.

Writing

I tried to write these recipes for people who have a basic cooking aptitude. I wrote them in a straight forward manner, trying not confuse people. So many recipes are written in a confusing manner which can turn cooking into a hellish experience. I highlighted what I thought was important as well as the ingredients. I hate when I am reading a recipe and need a magnifying glass.

Pictures

I decided to use pictures on the main page only, because I did not want each page to get jumbled in design. I wanted the site to be the same from page to page.

Navigation

I used a side navigation bar that is seen from each page. I did this so people can jump from one recipe from one meal to another recipe from another meal. This is my user friendly menu bar. If I had time to modify even more I would change the menu bar to show where you are when you click on that page.

Design

The biggest design tool I tried to use is color. I made each meal a different color so navigation would be easier for the user.

What I would do differently next time

Next time I do this I would like to design the page to be more picture friendly. I also want to use pictures for navigation. I believe this would be easier to move around on the site. I want to expand my wine recommendations too.
