Bemidji State University places student
teachers throughout Northern Minnesota in cooperation with 53
public school districts.

on the NORTH, in towns such as: International Falls, Thief River,
Warroad, and Roseau SOUTH-as far south as Waubun, Brainerd, Deer
Creek EAST-Mountain Iron On the Mesabi Iron Range WEST-as far
as Crookston
How
to Student Teach in sites across Minnesota (one year advance
notice)
Student Teaching in other parts of Minnesota
is called the COMMON MARKET PROGRAM. Student Teaching may be
done at another MNSCU University under the provisions of a Common
Market Agreement. Bemidji State University is one of the universities
in the MNSCU system. Other colleges include Moorhead, St. Cloud,
Winona, Mankato, and Southwest . The common market program allows
students from Bemidji State University to student teach in public
schools across Minnesota.
How you can particpate in the Common Market
Program
1. Prepare to adhere to the host university's
calendar, procedures and policies as related to placements and
student teaching.
2. Complete the Student Teaching Forms.
Forms are available on the icons to the left of this article.
Secure the required signatures, and return them to Mr. Brouwer,
Clinical Experiences Office, EA 319
3. The Common Market Passport is your registration
for student teaching; do not register again at Bemidji State
University or at the host university.
4. The host university will mail the placement
information to the student by the beginning of the student teaching
semester. They will notify the Bemijdi State University Clinical
Experiences Office if you cannot be placed.
5. The host university will send the student
a bill for tuition; payment is made to the host university. If
financial aid is involved, take care of the arrangements at Bemidji
State University before you leave for the host university.
6. A supervisor will be assigned to you
by the host university.
7. Credits earned at the host university
will appear on the Bemidji State University transcript.
8. The student teaching final recommendation
from your Coopearting Teacher and University Supervisor will
be returned to the Career Placement Office.

Teaching in Other States
At this time, Bemidji State University
has agreements to place student teachers in two states outside
Minnesota. These optional student teaching placements are in
Georgia or Texas.
