Preface

I chose for my repurposing essay an old presentation that I had done for a mass communication class.

I started repurposing by breaking down the main points of the essay into three categories and by using the original outline. I had to think how was I going to incorporate the visuals that I had used in my presentation. I couldn't use the video nor could I use an overhead, (which I somehow through the years misplaced). I decided to make links to of those materials.

I then needed to figure out how I can put this information in a hypertext format without losing the information. I needed to cut a lot of the original text because I felt that in some cases to general and in others it contained too much of my own sentiments. Much of the material was repeated as well and felt the redundancy of it was of course no use. I just felt that I needed to give factual information and leave it at that.

Problems that I faced were what should I keep and what not. How best to chunk the material. I didn't want to make it complicated or boring to the reader. How was I going to achieve that? My main goal was to keep the content as simple as possible.

I found that I was still struggling with how to post in each of my pages, when to use headers when not too. Took me a few times to finally figure out the steps for linking. It's one of those things that when you finally figure it out you wonder how stupid you were for not getting it.

My biggest problem was having to deal with my own self-image. I often feel that my work is so amateurish when I look at how others present their pages. Then I would have someone tell me that they will kick my a** if I keep beating my self up. So I did what I needed to do.
