London Beatles

The lives of the Beatles obviously went further than Liverpool. After visiting Liverpool, we took a train down to London. We spent the majority of our trip there. Of course, the best parts of London for me were things that had to do with the Beatles. Auntie Susie and I did a walking tour of London Beatles sites on our second to last day of our trip. We were a little dressed up because we were going to have tea at the Ritz later that day.

Abbey Road

That's me above crossing Abbey Road. It's a busy road! The Beatles had it closed when they had their famous picture taken here. The crossing is right near Abbey Road Studios.

Hard Day's Night scene

If you've seen the movie "A Hard Day's Night," you may recognize the scene to the left. The movie opens with the Beatles running down this street on their way to catch a train. Had I not been with a tour group, I would have ran down this street myself, and perhaps fallen over just like George in the movie. However, I didn't want to get separated from the group.

There we are on the right, tourist as can be, on the steps of an apartment where some of the Beatles once lived in London. The apartment is best known for the place that John Lennon was busted for drug possesion.

Also to the right our tour group stands in front of an apartment where Paul McCartney lived for awhile with his girlfriend Jane Asher. The song "Yesterday" was written here. The tour guide, Richard, must have one of the best jobs in the world: walk around London and impress people by showing them places we remember.
