How to Make a Bottle Blanket

Caroline Cunningham

Have you ever had your soda bottle sweat all over your books in your backpack? Does your water bottle leave a little ring of water on the desk? If so then you need a Bottle Blanket.

Materials needed:
Piece of fleece 15" x 15"
Drawstring or cording 20"
Cordstop

Bottle

Step 1. Decide what size bottle to make the Blanket for.

Step 2. Then trace the bottom of the bottle onto a piece of paper. Pin paper circle to fleece. Cut out the circle.

Step 3. Measure the circumference of the bottle, add 1/2 inch to the circumference. Measure the height of the bottle, add 1 inch to the height. Cut out one rectangular piece of fleece to these dimensions.

Step 4. Fold down the top edge 3/4 inch of the fleece to form the cord casing. Slide the cord within the fold and sew the edge down.

Step 5. Fold the right sides of the fleece in half, lengthwise and sew the edge. Stopping just prior to the cord.

Step 6. Pin the circle into the tube of the body of the Blanket and sew. Trim the seams. Turn Blanket right side out. Slide a cord stop over the two ends of the cord.

Bottle Blankets made great inexpensive gifts.
