How to connect your Home Theater System

A home theater system is needed to give you the sound and feel that you experience in a theater, from the comfort of your living. We must warn you that undertaking such a venture can be very expensive and time consuming.
At the end of it all you can however sit back and relax, invite a few close friends over and chug down a few beers responsibly, and enjoy this whole new experience.

Getting started

  • Connect your stereo receiver and amplifier together.
  • Attach your speakers to the output jacks located at the back of your amplifier.
  • Make sure the wires are properly inserted to the back of the speaker.
  • Check to see if everything is plugged into its proper plugs
  • Turn your stereo on.
  • Check your audio levels.

And now for the cool toys

  • Connect your TV and D.V.D.
  • Connect the video and audio cables to the output plugs located at the back of the D.V.D.
  • Use the color code to guide you to proper installation. Yellow is video, red and white are audio.
  • Plug into the corresponding input plugs at the back of the T.V., again observing and maintaining the color code.
  • Join the video input from the game console to the video input signal from the D.V.D use a R.C.A splitter to gain one video input.
  • Plug the video output to the input jack found at the back of the T.V.
  • Check for video by turning the T.V. to the line channel.
  • Check each appliance separately.
  • In the event that an appliance doesn’t have video check all the previous steps and make sure the plugs are properly inserted into the correct plugs.
  • Split the audio output signals with a R.C.A. splitter to join the D.V.D. and game console audio output.
  • Connect to the input plugs labelled "Video" or "Auxilary" at the back of the stereo.
  • Place your stereo in the video or auxiliary mode.Turn your system on and invite your friends over and have a whale of a time.

Remember to be considerate of your neighbors or you might be having visitors from your local police department.

  • R.C.A. plugs.
  • Splitter (R.C.A)

Terms Explained

Amplifier:

This is an audio device which is used to project and raise the audio quality.

Stereo reciever:

This is the section of your componenet set which is responsible for accepting and routing your different input devices. An example of an input device is an auxilary player such as a turntable.

Sub Woofers

This is the speaker which, is responsible for the heavy base that will accompany your sound.

Input and Output Jacks

These jacks are the connectors that is used to join two or more devices together.

R.C.A. Splitter

Used to turn two or more signals into one input

Input and Output Plugs

This is the recepticles located at the back of electronic devices, this is where the jacks are plugged into.
